Free soil. Open up our land for homes: The Republican Party was founded in 1856 on a basic principle of free men and free soil. All men are to be free, free to work as they deem best, for themselves. The land (soil) of the Country is for the people. For Free men to be able to get what is already their land, so free.  

 The Federal Govt controls vast amounts of land. Millions of acres. In many states more than half of the land is held by the Federal Govt. 

In 1862 The Republican Party passed the Homestead Act. A family was able to settle Federal land, forty acres and build a home on it. After five years, the land was theirs. Free of charge. 

We need another Homestead Act for today. Probably not forty acres, even a quarter acre gives one family plenty of room. 

The price of homes is inflated because the politicians impose requirements and permits, reviews studies and all that literally triples the cost of constructing a home. Then, they cut deals to create a land shortage to drive up the cost of real estate. People need homes. People count, not ‘open space”.  End ‘open space” preserves and turns the set-asides over to the people to live on. … 

A nice add on is developing more dams to create reservoirs for our water, hydroelectric power, recreation, and lakefront real estate!
